Politburo members on Laos working visit
VIENTIANE — Lao Party General Secretary and State President Choummaly Sayasone have separately received Vietnamese Party Politburo members in Vientiane, promoting the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries.
At a meeting yesterday, Choummaly and Truong Tan Sang, who is permanent member of the Secretariat of the Vietnamese Party Central Committee, in Laos to attend a conference on compiling the history of Laos-Viet Nam special relations, stressed the significance of the project.
The project matched the special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation between the two parties, states and peoples, they said, adding that it served as a basis for dissemination and education, to raise political awareness and feelings of the two countries' people, particularly the younger generations, and to enable international friends to better understand the nature of the Viet Nam-Laos relationship.
They reaffirmed the consistent guidelines of the two parties, states and peoples to resolutely maintain and promote the bilateral traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation for the well-being of the lives and happiness of the peoples and for peace, stability, co-operation and development in the region and the world.
Earlier, Choummaly met with To Huy Rua, head of the Commission for Organisation of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, who is on a visit to Laos till Wednesday.
Choummaly spoke highly of the current visit to Laos by the Vietnamese delegation led by To Huy Rua, saying it would contribute to co-operation between the two Party Central Committee's Organisation Commissions and the two countries.
He provided a brief overview of Lao socio-economic development and expressed his wish for further mutual assistance between the two commissions.
Rua informed Choummaly about the outcomes of the talks between the two commissions, emphasising enhancement of exchange visits, co-operation and human resource training, contributing to fostering the friendship and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries. — VNS
