DR KEM Ley Funerals

After 15 days of public viewing, the body of DR Kem Ley is transported to his resting place at his village birth place of Ang Takop, Leay Bo Village (Khum Leay Bo), Srok (District of) Tram Kak, Takeo Province. During the viewing, many thousands of mourners came to pay their respect, in tears. Many diplomats came also to share their condolences, including a US official from DC, in official visit to talk about the human rights in Cambodia.
    During the Sunday July 24 procession many thousands came to pay their respects marching the many kilometers to Chomchau before the procession drive to it final destination with many cars and motorcycles following. The body is put to rest on Monday the 26.
    For millions of mourners across the nation, Dr Kem Ley passed away as National Hero and Martyr who dare to speak the truth, and because of that, he predicted that he not live long. He left a famous note to his compatriots saying: "Wipe your tears; Continue your journey." This is to understand that he wanted his compatriots to continue his unfinished work for the defense of the country and to have the courage to speak out!
    The Government still do not release any information on the investigations. The Government media did not say a word about the funeral. That is to leave to the public to guess...

    We pray for you, Brother, that you Rest In Peace and we affirm that we will continue your journey. For the sake of our Motherland...

Days after

Nothing from the Police. Only exchange of accusations on who is behind the crime, between the ruling party and the opposition. Hot debates.

Now the case is in the hands of the Court. The suspect is formally charged of 2 counts: premeditate killing and illegal possession of fire arm. The culprit may be sentenced to prison for life.

The person who sell the gun to the killer will also investigated.

As always in case like this, it is hard that justice is served. Will see ...

The Assassination

It is of a well known political analyst, Dr. Kem Ley, 46, father of 4 and one unborn. He was gunned dwn at around 9:00AM in a cafe shop in Phnm Penh. It is a national tragedy, a great loss for the Cambodian people. A suspect was caught and the gun he used was seized. He said that the victim used US$3,000 of his money to use to help the poor people but nothing was done, this is to settle the loss. Nobody believe the story, More than that he gave his name as Chup Samlap or "Meet to Kill" ... The killing is execution style by a prfessional killer.
The head of the Phnom Penh is investigating and asked every people to be patient.

Dr. Kem Ley body was transported to a temple in Chrui Changwar across the Tonle Sap in a procession that drawn many thousands people in tears. We all pray that he Rest in Peace;

This happened, by coincidence, just after Dr. Kem Ley (and Dr. Meas Ny) gave an interview with Radio Free Asia and broadcast on Friday regarding the Global Witness Report "Hostile Takeover" released on Thursday July 7. The report on the Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen family did not look good to his 4 children.

Days to Remember

On June 6, 1975, 41 years ago, me, my sister Thol, and my 4 children Saravith, Sarado, Sarina and Saranimol land in Marines camp Pendlet, CA.
On July 3 we were delivered papers admitting as a parolees, sort of accepting us as refugees.
On July 4, we were celebrating Independence Day and the day after we were moved to temporary housing before flying to Seatac, a few days later.
On July 7, we began new life in Edmonds, WA.

Hostile Takeover

It is the title of a big report by the Global Witness on the Hun Sen Family published in Phnm Penh by the Phnom Penh Post and Cambodia Daily. The Long Beach, CA, resident, now mouthpiece of the CPP say that the report is having n value, not worth anything more that the paper to wrap the groceries ...

July 6-7: The Beginning of the End

The July coup, or whatever you call it, was the signal of the beginning of the end of Democracy, in Cambodia, that is since 1997. From then on, the CPP winner of the fight with the FUNCINPEC took control over the security forces, the administrative apparatus, and the finances. In simple terms, all subsequent elections were slated t be won by the CPP. It happened in 1998, in 2003, in 2008, in 2013, and in 2018, if the elections were organized in the present atmosphere ... under the CPP rule of law.

In 1993 FUNCINPEC won because the elections were organized by the United Nations, thanks to the Paris Peace Agreements signed n October 23, 1991. Now the CPP say that the PPA were dead ...
